Concerns of wisdom tooth

The teeth positioned at the rear most part of the jaw are known as the wisdom teeth. A wisdom tooth is also a molar tooth. These are the upper and lower third molars. As the tooth starts to grow at an age of about 17 or higher which can be considered old enough to be able to gain “wisdom”, the tooth came to be known as wisdom tooth and has nothing to do with the actual wisdom of the person.  A healthy wisdom tooth that has grown at the proper position or is growing appropriately does not cause the concerned person any problems.

The ones that protrude at the incorrect spot are the once that cause pain. These grow up crooked and tend to get infected or become brittle causing a range of problems to the patient. Apart from the pain, this medical condition may even lead to distortion in the appearance of the face. To rectify the problem you must visit the nearest dental clinic and take professional help of experienced dentist.
There are many instances where the wisdom teeth break apart while still inside the gums causing immense pain. This also results in a part of the gum tissue to remain over the emerging tooth leaving small fissures between the tooth and the flap of tissue where particles of food may get trapped leading to various gum infections. Also if these teeth grow crooked or develop facing incorrect directions. In case the jaw does not have enough room to adjust the new teeth, they might not be able to even protrude out of the gum causing serious pain and suffering. The teeth is such conditions are hard to clean as they are at the back of the mouth and too congested too be cleaned.
If you are facing any of the below symptoms you may be a candidate for the incorrect wisdom teeth growth and should consult a dentist as soon as possible.
  • Pain at the position of the new emerging tooth
  • Annoyance in the cheek or tongue due to the awkward angle of the new tooth
  • Pain due to infection of gum when the tooth breaks before growing out of the gum
  • Swarming of the teeth in an inappropriate manner due to less space on the jaw leading to various cases of tooth decay as the cleaning becomes very difficult.
Any dentist will be able to diagnose the conditions using sophisticated equipment and procedures. The dentist usually inspects the tooth using light and mirrors to check for any irregularities. She/he might also recommend an X-Ray report to check the structure of the jaw surrounding the impacted tooth. This gives them a clearer picture of the condition and enables them to provide better diagnosis and also predict any conditions that may not cause any issue now but may become troublesome in the near future. The most traditional practice of remedying such medical conditions is the extraction of the concerned wisdom tooth. The dentists carry out the removal through operation on the jaw after numbing the surrounding area with anesthesia to make the patient comfortable during the operation. The operation is usually painless and results in complete relief. If you face any such condition, visit the nearest dentist to get the best advice.

Visiting a Dentist in case of Emergency

When we were small, breaking a tooth while playing was quite common. Some of the days, we were the ones getting injured and on other days, our friends were at the receiving end. If the tooth that broke was anyways hanging, we’d be happy over losing it but when the tooth was intact, the pain was unbearable. Accidental breaking of teeth can be immensely painful and cause bouts of pain until the time it is treated. Thanks to the advancements in the field of medical science, such accidents can be treated even at odd hours.

These days, emergency cases can be treated immediately, all thanks to emergency dentists. Though they charge premium amounts, it is worth it for relieving you of the huge unbearable pain. Emergency dentals can spare you of the pain and fix your broken tooth at times of emergency. So when there’s someone who has broken his tooth during an accident or due to any bad circumstances, you know where to visit!

Emergency cases are not just restricted to breaking of tooth. They encompass other painful situations as well, such as feeling of discomfort due to the presence of wisdom tooth. As kids, we’ve often heard grownups discussing animatedly about wisdom tooth. However, it is only after we grow up that we realize why such discussions take place! Wisdom tooth can be quite irritating and render you uncomfortable. It grows at such an odd place, that your molars don’t have a comfortable place to stay. This causes your wisdom tooth to pain and the gums around that area to be swelled up. At such times, wisdom teeth removal is the only option! So on a certain night is you are unable to chew food and are howling because of the pain, you should definitely get checked for the presence of any wisdom teeth.

Accidental events and lack of proper care do leave our teeth disfigured and our smile inappropriate to be flashed to anyone.Such conditions can be repaired, all thanks to porcelain veneers. If you’ve chipped your teeth due to an accident or have discolored, disfigured teeth by birth, you can change your appearance and become what you’ve always imagined yourself to be. You might have often wondered and still might be perhaps, over how celebrities have such perfect smiles and teeth. All thanks for porcelain veneers; almost every famous celebrity has opted for such a treatment. You should opt for veneers under the following conditions:

1.       Discolored teeth: If you consume a lot of tobacco, your teeth might have lost their whiteness. Our teeth get discolored due to reaction to certain drugs and with growing age as well. If you want to regain the shiny white teeth you once had, you should opt for porcelain veneer treatment.

2.       Broken or Chipped Teeth: Accidents can break our teeth. How would your smile come across to your crush if you’ve a half broken tooth? It would lead to an embarrassing situation! It is better you get your teeth fixed and reconstructed.

3.       Gaps: At times, people are victims to a condition where in there is a significant gap between two adjacent teeth. It doesn’t look good and can be fixed with porcelain veneers.
